What's Tongues got to do with it?

Tonight's conversation centered largely around tongues and gifts in the body of Christ.  JoAnn described her family background and her initial opposition to spirituality that was "wierd" and how that attitude came primarily from her father.  Several others, Donna, Randy and Linda talked about how the Holy Spirit weekend at Alpha is a time when they see how the slow deliberate approach to new Christians is best.   If you have any other thoughts please post them.

More Gifts

We had a great meeting last night even though we missed the ladies. We had a couple of discussion questions for next time.
1. What should we as Christians be doing to open ourselves to using new gifts?
2. Randy, help me out what was the other question you suggested?
We may get started on Chapter 4 this next week...stay tuned.

Trust in the Spirit and Each Other

Tonite we had a great conversation about the questions in the end of Chapter 1. The focus of our discussion revolved around how we discern the working of the Spirit in our lives and how we go about learning to trust the work of the Spirit. In a very real way our feelings get involved in this process, as Jo and Randy pointed out. But not only does the Spirit help us but we trust in the scripture to guide us too. We all agreed, as a group, that we would try to support each other as we practice using our gifts and try to learn what other gifts God may want us to use.

We were happy tonight to welcome Chaplain Triplett who came to play in Donna's absence. Please continue to pray for him and his wife Carol.

We were so glad to see Randy back tonight as well, your looking good, praise God!

Next week we will tackle chapter 2.

Your Spiritual Gifts 1

Tonite we learned about Randy's heart attack so we begin on a thoughtful note and remember to pray for he and Linda both.  

Donna began with some "old time" chourses (her phrase).  It was a great time of worship.  

This session we talked about the questions from the end of chapter 1. 

They are: 

1) Why does the subject of spirtitual gifts interest you?

2) How would you describe your relationship with the Holy Spirit?

3) What concerns do you have about spiritual gifts?

We had a great discussion on these questions and look forward to next week.
